Request for more than one Backupdestination

Aug 22, 2014 at 11:39 AM
Hello Thomas,

it is possible to save every PST in an specified destination? At the moment there is one, is it correct?
We use different PST Files for our Projects in different Folders on Fileshares. With PFBACKUP von MS this is a good solution. Some collegues use 10-15 Project-PST at one time in Outlook.

Hello Rene,

there is currently only one destination folder, right.
Usually you have one backup device (backup disk or similar) and this should be the target.
I am not quite sure about how you organize your pst-files. Usually you shouldn't open the backup files with outlook
because there can be only one person who accesses the file.

Also Microsoft doesn't suggest to open pst-Files via shared folders:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297019/en-us

Pst files should only be used on local attached medias.
So... what is the aim of different target folders? Just to tidy up the backup folder (?)
Perhaps you can also use the post-backup command feature. You can run a batch file automatically after backup to move the files accordingly.

Kind regards,
Thomas
