Installed - not showing Outlook Files

Dec 11, 2014 at 9:52 PM
I just installed this plugin on the computers in our Church running Outlook 2013 under Windows 8. There is one IMAP email account installed on each computer. When I go to settings I do not any files under the Outlook Files? Thanks.

Hello,
could you please check whether you are using OST or PST-Files?
You can also check out this thread: https://outlookbackupaddin.codeplex.com/discussions/551352

Kind regards,

I am using Outlook 2013 and IMAP so according to this thread the information is stored in the OST file - hence no PST file visible. What I couldn’t determine from the thread is whether I can actually backup now or is this something to be added in a future version? Thanks.

Hello,
IMAP usually saves the emails on the server. Thus the server will also have your emails even if your computer crashes.
If you want a local backup despite, you can activate an experimental flag in the config file:
%APPDATA%\Codeplex\BackupAddIn\OutlookBackup.config
Just change the xml-Element "ShowOSTFiles" to true:
<ShowOSTFiles>true</ShowOSTFiles>

Thanks, I was most interested in backing up the contacts, calendar, etc. I believe that this is stored locally - even with IMAP?

Hallo,
contacts and calendars are stored locally, as far as I know. IMAP only supports exchange of emails. For contactcs, etc you need other
protocols like carddav and caldav. None of these are supported by outlook out of the box. Only the exchange protocol which must
be licensed can be used for this purpose.
