Automatic shutdown of Outlook

Jan 29, 2015 at 2:48 PM
Since Outlook must be closed to backup .pst files and since many of our users never close outlook, is there a way for this add-in to automatically close Outlook when schedule calls for backup?

Hello,
the plugin works the other way around. When outlook closes it checks the date and triggers backup if needed.
So you need to close outlook automatically.
You can do this via task planer and a little powershell script.
I found a sample here:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/4c8fad53-d7ad-4e9a-9569-454d9c793bd3/powershell-to-close-a-running-program-gracefully-without-uses-interact?forum=w7itprogeneral

(see last post with full example.. i quickly tested it and it works)

Kind regards,
Thomas
