I everyvody
I have downloaded the ADD IN 1.4 for outlook 2013 in my lap top with window 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
I have looked at all the discussion about the fact that the add-in doesn't show the files to back up.
Could someone help me with that.
I have tried everything but nothing the plug in is there seem to work but I am not able to see any back up or any pst to save. In the past with outlook 2010 it works perfectly.
Can someone help me.

Hello,
please check which file format you are using in outlook.
Check: File --> Info --> Account settings -->in the new popup windows check Tab "Data-files"
Check the column "location" which files you have.
The plugin mainly works with PST-Files.
OST-Files are used for imap and exchange accounts which are usually not backed up because mails
are stored serverside.
Backup of OST-Files is only experimental and can be activated via a hidden switch.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
The file are ost files… but the thing is that I was using the backup addin for the contact back up
I have read the blog regarding the experimental but I would like to know how to activate it… if that would be possible
I am not an expert but with the right instruction I might get it right.
Would you help with that?
Thanks

Hello,

you have two options:
1) Separate email and calendar in two files (ost and pst).
The way it works is described here: http://www.msoutlook.info/question/754
2) Open %APPDATA%\Codeplex\BackupAddIn\OutlookBackup.config
Change the xml-Element "ShowOSTFiles" to true:
<ShowOSTFiles>true</ShowOSTFiles>
After restart of oulook, also ost files will be shown.

Hope this informations helps.

Kind regards,
Thomas
