Enabling first time backup

Feb 22, 2016 at 12:58 PM

I'm pushing OutlookBackupAddIn on clients computers using this command line:

msiexec /I \server\path\OutlookBackupAddIn.msi /quiet

I'm also configuring registry jeys using GPO and the admx files.

The installation works good but I have one problem. The user needs to open the plugin in Outlook and click Save to allow the first backup to be created at the next outlook exit. Once done one time the plugin backups the files correctly on exit.

What can I do so that there is no need for user manipulation?

Thanks in advance !

PS : Sorry for my approximative english.

all settings are stored within registry at:

Could you export this registry keys right after deployment and send it to me?
If you like you can also compare this registry tree after open + save within outlook.
There is missing a key probably which is set after first saving and necessary for backup.

Kind regards,

Thank you very much for your answer.

I found the following registry key were missing :
  • BackupProgram
  • BackupPrefix
  • BackupSuffix
After adding these keys using my installation script the initial backup works like a charm.

thanks again.

the Key BackupProgram can also be added via GPO.
Prefix and Suffix are only optional and can be omitted.
